What is a Student Ambassador?

Student ambassadors assist the College in recruitment and retention activities. Working through the Student Life and Leadership Development offices at Downtown, Kent, North and South Campuses and through the student success offices at Open Campus and the Deerwood, Nassau and Martin Center (Administrative Offices), they provide both prospective and current students with the information they need to succeed at Florida State College. There are five student ambassador positions for each campus and Deerwood Center. Cecil Center North has one position and other centers have two positions.

Qualifications

Student must:

  • Complete and submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  • Be a college credit, degree seeking student in an A.A., A.S., B.S., or B.A.S. program of study.
  • Have earned and maintain an all college cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above. If GPA falls below a 2.5, student will lose the talent grant and position.
  • Enroll in a minimum of nine college credit hours during fall and spring terms and, if student chooses, six hours during the summer term. At least one half of total enrollment each semester must be on the campus for which student made the agreement to attend. If student drops/withdraws from a class, he/she must maintain initial contracted enrollment status or lose the talent grant and position.
  • Demonstrate a history of involvement in campus activities in high school or college.
  • Participate in at least 15 hours per week with flexibility in schedule as needed.
  • Provide own transportation.
  • Understand that if he/she has completed more than 90 college credit hours, including all transfer hours, he/she will be ineligible to receive a talent grant unless he/she is enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program.
  • Understand that he/she is eligible to receive no more than 72 total credit hours on any one or combination of talent grants provided by the College unless he/she is enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program.
Duties/Activities
  • Assist with campus tours
  • Assist with orientation, registration, open houses and special events
  • Participate in the campus Student Government Association
  • Participate in year-end Graduation/Commencement ceremonies
  • Participate in College recruitment efforts
  • Be familiar with campus resources
  • Participate in and promote Student Life programs
  • Participate in collegewide ambassador trainings
  • Participate in College marketing activities
  • Participate on special committees as needed
Special Note

Student ambassadors are not student employees or student workers. They receive a talent grant award and do not complete a student work schedule form.

Ambassador Benefits
  • Students are eligible to receive scholarship funds to assist with the cost of tuition and books.
  • Students can participate in collegewide leadership training.
