Companies and organizations need experienced multimedia production professionals to create captivating web sites, programming and events. Growth of Florida’s media production and entertainment industry makes an education in this field even more compelling.

For more in-depth instruction in digital media/multimedia technologies, choose our two-year associate degree program. If theatre or entertainment is more your style, our hands-on instruction in backstage operations will help you enter that industry equipped with either a technical certificate or associate degree.

Best of all, getting ahead doesn’t mean going into debt.  At Florida State College, you’ll spend thousands less than you would at other local state colleges, universities or technology schools.

Will I be required to complete an internship?
Internships are required for all A.S. and A.A.S. degree programs, and some technical certificate programs. They provide students with real experience in their chosen field of specialization and are necessary to ensure that students can perform certain job-related skills.
What is the difference between an associate degree and technical certificate?

Please view our degrees and certificates page for a complete description of each.

    How can I get started?

Complete a membership application, then visit a counselor/advisor or the Digital Media & Entertainment Technology Department for more information. Some programs may require additional forms for admission. Please refer to your specific degree/certificate program for a complete list of requirements.

    When do classes begin?

Visit our online class schedules for information regarding dates and payment deadlines. You can also refer to the academic calendar for additional information.

    How much will classes cost?

Tuition and fees vary for Florida residents and non-Florida residents. Please visit our tuition and fees page for general information. You can also learn more about how to pay for college by visiting our financial aid and scholarships page.

Certain classes that require labs may have additional fees for lab supplies. Additional fees are published in the class schedule. Please refer to your specific degree/certificate program for any extra costs that may be incurred.

Do I need to purchase a computer?
No, Florida State College provides over 60 hours per week of open lab time for all digital media students to have access to a computer and needed software in order to complete their class projects. These hours include weekend and evening hours.
    What is a portfolio?
Digital media students are required by the industry to have a portfolio that demonstrates both technical proficiency and creativity. Students will NOT receive a job without one. We have built portfolio development within the curriculum, and require both a portfolio development course and internship prior to graduation. These are the last two courses students will complete.
How long will the program take to complete?
Technical certificates can be completed in a matter of months. The associate degree programs can be completed in two years with a full-time schedule or in four years with a part-time schedule.
