Recent high school graduates with a history of high scholastic achievement who meet the requirements of the program are guaranteed admission to the baccalaureate degree program of their choice.

Student eligibility requirements for initial participation and continuation in the program are pursuant to those in the Florida Academic Scholars award as described in the 2009 Florida Statutes 1009.534 and 1009.532, as may be amended from time to time. These requirements currently include a 3.5 weighted high school grade point average including a prescribed set of credits (including world language credits), community service hours, and minimum scores on college entrance exams (ACT or SAT).

Upon acceptance to the program, students will select an initial program of study from the current list of baccalaureate degree programs offered by Florida State College. The student will also select a lower division (associate) program of study aligned with the student’s bachelor’s degree intent. Participating students must complete lower division requirements before the student’s eligibility for Bright Futures expires.

The student may change his or her baccalaureate degree program once while completing lower division courses and maintain a guaranteed admission to the baccalaureate program of his or her choice. A third selection is permitted only in the case in which the College adds a baccalaureate degree program not available at the time of original admission to the program.

The student may pursue his or her baccalaureate full time or part time in accordance with requirements to remain eligible for the Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars scholarship award. Students who successfully reinstate or restore their Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars scholarship award will be reinstated or restored to a guaranteed admission to the baccalaureate degree choice on record. It is the student’s responsibility to notify the district admissions office of re-instatement.

Upon satisfactory completion of all lower division courses with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, students will be fully admitted to the baccalaureate program. Students will not be required to complete an application for the baccalaureate degree program. Students entering baccalaureate programs requiring work experience or licensure must meet the requirements specific to those programs prior to entry.
